Sunday in eSwatini

The following is a glimpse of our experience at church Sunday morning:

This morning we went to a traditional Swazi church. The church service here can last up to 3-4 hours. The singing continues for about an hour but is so beautiful it doesn’t even seem that long. We heard a message from Romans about forgiveness and how important it is to not hold a grudge against someone.

In America people get upset if church continues for more than an hour and a half while the Swazis are just worshipping God. During church we can start getting distracted about where we are going to eat or what we are going to do after church. Here they don’t even know if they will have lunch after church so they don’t worry and only focus on God.

While we worship the same true God, we definitely worship differently and there is a lot we can learn from the Swazi’s style of worship.
