In just a short five days, 16 of us will board a plane to travel many, many miles across the pond to Knysna, South Africa. We are so excited to join in with the work that God has already been doing in Knysna. For many of us, this won’t be our first time visiting this beautiful place, but for others, this will be the very first time stepping out into this place… How exciting!
Since 2013, Warren Baptist has created a strong ministry base in Knysna, South Africa. This ministry expanded when a couple from Warren, Chris and Rebecca Wilkins, moved their family from the US to Knysna in 2016 to obey the call of God on their lives. Our team will partner with Chris and Rebecca as well as Youth For Christ.
The men of the trip will be joining YFC to help with construction of different things for their program as well as helping disciple the men they are working alongside of. The women of the team will join with YFC to provide counseling, support, awareness, and training for teens and young ladies from the Knysna townships.
Getting ready for a trip like this can be full of busyness. Making sure everything is packed, purchasing last minute travel essentials, and spending time with friends and families before saying “see you later”. But, at the end of the day, we know that God has gone before us and has all the details in His hands. We know that “He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
The 2018 Knsyna Team will be commissioned this upcoming Sunday, January 14th, at the end of the 9:30am service at WBC Grovetown and at the end of the 11am service at WBC Augusta. We invite you to come to our send off as well this upcoming Tuesday, January 16th, 12:00 noon in the welcome center at WBC Augusta. We will return to WBC Augusta on January 28th around 10:30am.
We also invite you to join us in praying for this trip:
- Pray for overall unity among team members and ministry partners already in Knysna
- Pray for smooth travel regarding flying, luggage, security, and health
- Pray for the hearts of the people we will be ministering to in Knysna. We know that some water, some plant, but God provides the growth. (1 Cor. 3:6)
- Pray for the team to be in tune to whatever God is speaking and leading
- Pray for peace for family members who will be at home
- Pray ultimately that God’s glory will be displayed and everything we do will bring praise to Him
We thank you advance for joining this team by praying!

“The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens!
Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
Praise the Lord!”
Psalm 113:4-9 esv
